Training in June: become a new marine mammal response volunteer

  • Montlake Terrace Library 23300 58th Avenue W Mountlake Terrace, WA, 98043 United States (map)

UPDATE!
Saturday —
June 11 — 2:30–4:30pm — Mountlake Terrace Library

SKMMR is holding its first-of-the-year orientation and training to anyone interested in volunteering with us.

We are recruiting new volunteers to help respond to marine mammal strandings and protect healthy seal pups ashore. We cover the shoreline from downtown Seattle north to Kayak Point (north of Everett).

At the orientation, we will discuss the natural history of Puget Sound marine mammals, federal regulations, and public engagement within marine habitats. By the end of the session you can expect to know more about identifying the more common marine mammal species, and what resources are available if you should come across either an injured or harassed animal.

This training session will be held at the Montlake Terrace Library, 2:30–4:30pm.

We are offering our volunteer training during harbor seal pupping season, which peaks during summer months. We give orientations in different locations around the region we cover. If you can't make this session, future sessions will be held this summer in other areas in our response region. Check our events calendar for other dates and places, or follow our SKMMR Facebook page.

Space is limited — please RSVP to sno.kingmmr@gmail.com .
We hope to see you there!
