August: become a new marine mammal response volunteer

Saturday — August 27 — 10am–12:30pm — Frances Anderson Center (Edmonds parks & rec center)

SKMMR is offering orientation and training to anyone interested in volunteering with us.

We are recruiting new volunteers to help respond to marine mammal strandings and protect healthy seal pups ashore. We cover the shoreline from downtown Seattle, north to Kayak Point (north of Everett).
Edmonds Seal Sitters are especially welcome to this session — please come!

At the orientation, we will discuss the natural history of Puget Sound marine mammals, federal regulations, and public engagement within marine habitats. By the end of the session you can expect to know more about identifying the more common marine mammal species, and what resources are available if you should come across either an injured or harassed animal.

This training session will be held at the Frances Anderson Center in Edmonds, WA.

We are offering our volunteer training during harbor seal pupping season, which peaks during summer months. We give orientations in different locations around the region we cover. If you can't make this session, future sessions will be held this summer in other areas in our response region. Check our events calendar for other dates and places, or follow our SKMMR Facebook page.

Space is limited — please RSVP to:
sno.kingmmr@gmail.com .
We hope to see you there!
